Delivery & Shipping Policy
Where we deliver, how the truck gets in, and what your site needs to be ready.

It forms part of our Terms & Conditions and applies to every order placed through shippingsolutionspty.com.

Where we deliver
We deliver Australia-wide, to every state and territory: New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory.
We operate depots and service the following major centres directly:
- Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong (NSW)
- Melbourne and Geelong (VIC)
- Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville and Cairns (QLD)
- Perth (WA)
- Adelaide (SA)
- Canberra (ACT)
- Hobart (TAS)
- Darwin (NT)
Deliveries outside these centres are arranged through our transport network at the same flat $350 fee. If your site is remote, on an island, or only reachable by unsealed road or barge, contact us before ordering so we can confirm access — the fee does not change, but we need to be sure a truck can reach the placement point.
Delivery methods
The delivery method is matched to the unit and to your site. We will confirm the method with you before the truck is dispatched.
- Tilt-tray truck — the standard method for 10ft, 12ft and 20ft units. The tray tilts and the container slides off the back. The truck needs clear space to reverse and to slide the unit into position.
- Side-loader (swing-lift) truck — used for 20ft and 40ft units and where the container must be placed beside the truck rather than behind it. A side-loader can set a unit down in a tighter footprint but needs firm, level ground on the placement side to lower its stabiliser legs.
- Crane-assisted delivery — used where a unit must clear a fence, be lifted over a structure, be placed on stumps or footings, or be positioned where no truck can reach. Crane hire is quoted separately and is not included in standard delivery.
Site access and preparation
You are responsible for making the delivery site ready before the truck arrives. Please check the following:
- Ground — the placement area must be level, firm and well drained. Soft soil, sand, fresh fill, wet lawn and unset concrete will not carry a loaded truck. Containers should be set on a compacted or hard-stand surface, ideally with footings or bearers at the corner castings.
- Placement length — allow roughly three times the container length in clear straight run for a tilt-tray delivery. As a guide, allow about 18 metres for a 20ft unit and about 30 metres for a 40ft unit, plus the length of the truck.
- Width — allow at least 3.5 metres of clear width for the truck and load, and more on a bend or slope.
- Overhead clearance — allow a minimum of 5 metres of clear height above the truck path and above the placement point. Power lines, phone lines, tree limbs, awnings, carport roofs, gutters and shade sails are the most common causes of a failed delivery. A side-loader needs more headroom again while the container is swung.
- Access route — gates, driveways, culverts, cattle grids, bridges, corners and roundabouts must take a heavy rigid or semi-trailer. Tell us in advance about low bridges, weight limits, narrow laneways, steep driveways, sharp turns or gravel sections.
- On-site contact — an adult must be present to direct placement and sign for the delivery. Once a container is set down, moving it is a second, chargeable job.
Delivery lead time
Delivery takes 7 to 10 days from order confirmation. That single window covers the whole journey — allocating your unit, completing any inspection or modification work, booking transport, and carrying the unit to your site. There is no separate handling or dispatch period to add on top of it.
The same 7 to 10 day window applies to every address in Australia. A regional property in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, far north Queensland or Tasmania is quoted the same lead time as a metropolitan address in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
This timeframe is an estimate given in good faith, not a guarantee. Weather, road closures, flooding, port delays and transport availability can extend it. We will contact you if your delivery is running late.
Delivery fee
Delivery is a flat $350 to any address in Australia. The fee is in Australian dollars and includes GST. All other prices shown on our website are also in Australian dollars and include GST.
The $350 is a single fixed figure, not a calculation. It is not worked out from your postcode or the distance from the nearest depot, and it does not vary by state or by the unit ordered. There are no rural, remote, regional or interstate surcharges, and no fuel surcharges. You will pay $350 for delivery whether the container is going to an inner-city yard or a property hundreds of kilometres from the nearest capital.
The flat fee covers standard delivery by tilt-tray or side-loader to a prepared, accessible site. Separate charges may still apply where:
- crane assistance, a hiab, a specialised trailer or a pilot vehicle is required;
- the driver is held on site beyond the included unloading window (waiting time is charged at the carrier’s hourly rate);
- delivery must occur outside ordinary hours, on a weekend, or in a staged window arranged with a body corporate or council.
Failed delivery and redelivery
A delivery is treated as failed where the truck attends but cannot unload — for example because nobody is on site, the ground is unsuitable, the access route is blocked, overhead clearance is insufficient, or a required permit is not in place. In that case the container returns to the depot and a redelivery fee of $350, matching the original delivery fee, plus any carrier standing charges, is payable before we attempt delivery again.
If you need to change a delivery date, tell us as early as possible. Changes made after the truck has been booked may incur a cancellation charge from the carrier.
Inspection on delivery
Inspect your unit before the driver leaves. Check the doors open and close, the seals are intact, the floor is sound, and the paint and panels match what you ordered. Note any damage or shortfall on the delivery documentation and photograph it on the day.
Report transit damage to sales@shippingsolutionspty.com within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs and your order number, so we can lodge a claim with the carrier. Reporting later does not remove your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, but it does make a transit claim harder to substantiate. See our Refund & Returns Policy for remedies.
Permits, approvals and council requirements
You are responsible for obtaining any permit, licence or approval needed to place, keep or occupy a container at your site. This includes local council development or siting approval, body corporate or landlord consent, crane and road-occupancy permits, traffic management, and any consent required to place a unit on a nature strip, footpath or public road.
We are not able to advise on planning requirements in your area and we do not obtain approvals on your behalf. If a delivery cannot proceed because an approval is missing, redelivery fees apply.
