Our Policies
Refund & Returns Policy
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law, and how our 30-day return window works.
This policy sets out how Shipping Solutions PTY handles returns, refunds and faults. It applies to goods bought from shippingsolutionspty.com and sits alongside — it does not replace — your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, contained in Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth). Among other things, goods must be of acceptable quality, match their description, be fit for any purpose we told you they were fit for, and be supplied with clear title.
Where goods fail to meet a consumer guarantee, you are entitled to a remedy. Nothing in this policy limits those rights. The 30-day window described below is an additional change-of-mind courtesy we offer voluntarily.
30-day return window
You may apply to return an eligible stock container within 30 days of the delivery date, even if there is nothing wrong with it. To be eligible:
- the unit must be a standard stock item — a new or used container, or an unmodified cabin, sold from our regular range;
- it must be in the same condition and grade as delivered, allowing for fair inspection;
- it must be empty, clean, free of stored goods, and free of any signage, paint, decals, shelving, racking, fixings, wiring or holes added after delivery;
- it must be accessible for pick-up by the same class of truck that delivered it, on ground that meets the access requirements in our Delivery & Shipping Policy;
- you must hold your order number and proof of purchase.
Requests made after 30 days are assessed case by case and may be declined, except where a consumer guarantee applies.
Restocking fee and return freight
For change-of-mind returns:
- a restocking fee applies to cover inspection, cleaning, repair of handling marks and return to stock. The fee is quoted to you in writing before you commit to the return and is deducted from your refund;
- return freight is at your cost. You may either pay us to collect the unit at the quoted rate, or arrange your own suitably rated transport. If you arrange your own carrier, risk of damage in transit stays with you until the unit is received at our depot;
- the original outbound delivery fee of $350 is not refunded, because that service has already been performed.
Neither a restocking fee nor return freight is charged where the return is because the goods failed a consumer guarantee, were damaged in transit, or were not what you ordered. In those cases we cover the cost of returning the goods.
Faults: major and minor failures
If goods have a major failure — for example the unit is significantly different from what was described or shown, is unsafe, is wind- and watertight when it was sold as such but plainly is not, or cannot be made fit for its ordinary purpose within a reasonable time — you may choose to reject the goods and ask for a refund or a replacement, and you may also claim compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
If the failure is minor — for example a faulty door seal, a sticking locking bar, a damaged vent or a small repairable patch of corrosion — we may choose to repair the goods within a reasonable time, or to replace them or refund you. Where we repair, we will tell you before work starts what will be done and how long it will take.
Whether a failure is major or minor is judged against the goods as described and graded at the time of sale, not against a new unit.
Container grading and expected condition
Used containers are sold by grade and by their actual condition. Surface rust, patch repairs, dents, scratches, mismatched paint, previous owner markings, floor stains and repaired panels are normal in used stock and are not defects. Where we describe a unit as wind and watertight, that is the standard it must meet. Where photographs are supplied, they are of the actual unit or of a representative unit of the same grade, as stated on the listing.
Damaged in transit
Inspect the unit before the driver leaves. If there is visible damage:
- Note the damage on the delivery documentation before signing.
- Photograph the damage from several angles, including a wide shot showing the whole unit.
- Email sales@shippingsolutionspty.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number, the photographs and a short description.
We will assess the claim with the carrier and arrange a repair, replacement or refund as appropriate. Do not modify, repair or use the unit before we have assessed it, as that can prevent a claim from being settled.
Custom, modified and special-order units
The following are not eligible for change-of-mind return because they are made or altered to your specification and cannot be returned to general stock:
- modified containers (cut openings, personnel doors, windows, roller doors, partitions, insulation, lining, electrical fit-out, painting to a nominated colour);
- container cabins and offices built to a custom layout;
- portable buildings built or configured to order;
- refrigerated containers supplied with non-standard temperature, power or fit-out requirements;
- units sourced to order from a third-party depot at your request.
Your consumer guarantee rights still apply in full to these goods. If a custom unit is faulty, not as specified, or not fit for the purpose you told us about, contact us and we will work through a remedy.
How to lodge a return
- Email sales@shippingsolutionspty.com, or call 1300 000 000 during business hours, with your order number, the delivery date, the reason for the return and photographs of the unit as it currently stands.
- We will respond within 2 business days with an assessment, a return authorisation number if approved, and a written quote for any restocking fee and return freight.
- Keep the unit empty and accessible. Do not send anything back before you have a return authorisation number — unauthorised returns may be refused at the depot.
- We inspect the unit on arrival and confirm the outcome in writing.
Refunds
Approved refunds are processed within 5 – 10 business days of the returned unit being received and inspected, or of a fault claim being resolved. Refunds are paid by electronic funds transfer to the Australian bank account nominated by the purchaser, which will normally be the account the original payment came from. We do not refund to a third party.
Your bank may take a further 1 – 3 business days to clear the funds. We will email you a credit note or adjustment note showing the refunded amount and the GST component.
Cancelling before delivery
You may cancel a stock order at no charge at any time before it is dispatched, provided no modification work has started. Once transport is booked, carrier cancellation charges may apply. Deposits on custom and modified builds are dealt with in our Payment Policy.
